What's your daemon?
LeopardYou're solitary and mysterious. You like to be strong, and don't like relying on people, but sometimes you want a friend who can understand you in a way normal people can't.

Free Sweater Stone
To all my knitty pals, I just found a website where you can get a FREE Sweater Stone. All you have to pay for is shipping which is $4.99 in the US. The weird part is I think the sweater stone is only $6-ish at a store. Whatever, free is free and who wouldn't want a couple of them in there house or car or laundry room. AND who doesn't like getting things in the mail. I find that I love the periodic surprises (because you ordered something or whatever) to be fun. And I have been wanting to get one FOREVER!!!!

Osmond's on Oprah
Did anyone happen to catch the Osmond's on Oprah on Friday? The Osmond's the was the first concert I ever went to at the Paramount in Seattle on a date with my father. I had a HUGE crush on Jimmy. I called my dad when I got home Friday because the show was still on. I told him to turn in to the channel, watch it and call me when it was over. I wanted it to be a surprise. Well, getting off the phone with my dad is not easy. He changed the channel and said "its Oprah". I said "See who on the show". He laughed and said "Donnie and Marie Osmond...do you still remember our date?" "Of course I remember our date." I could tell he was pleased. Then I got off the phone with him and sang to Osmond songs, sitting on my coffee table, clapping really, really fast. My kids thought I lost my mind and I didn't give a crap. This is for you dad...I love you!!!!

Audio Books
So I use ITunes to download my various podcasts. Whenever a topic pops into my head, I look up a podcast and learn more about it. Knitting, World of Warcraft, Spinning, & whatever. I have recently discovered PodioBooks...audio books in podcast format. My favorite so far is 7th Son...check it out if you dare, its very addictive.

New Job
I got a new job and I think it is BAD ASS!!!! I started training Monday with Brown Paper Tickets. Since training was during the day, I took the bus....public transportation. Let me go ahead and do my part in helping the environment and at the same time work on knitted Christmas gifts.
I was very eager to start and left my house very early while it was still dark. During my transfer in downtown Seattle, I stopped by Starbuck's for my Venti Caramel Machiatto with Extra Caramel....YUM and can you feel the calories. Since I was STILL early, I putt-putted around Border's to look at knitting books. (Like I need more knitting books) Coffee in hand, hustle and bustle of business people and bums alike all around me, going out to catch my next bus...I felt like a true Seattlite. (Hi Ms. V - big happy wave to you). My morning went smoothly, training went well, and who would have thunk that there would be a Thai Truck down the street....Oh My God, Chicken Phad Thai on the the go!!!! I can feel my butt expanding already.
Evening on the other hand was not as smooth. Still not used to the whole bus schedule thing, I ended up waiting 30 mins for my bus to downtown (Seattle is cold in the evening) , I thought I missed the connecting bus so I called my lovely hubby to have him pick me up downtown on 3rd & Pike. By this time of the evening the REAL freaks start to emerge. As I'm talking to him my bus approaches. I quickly say "pick me up at the Park & Ride." So, I should let you know that I do not have a cell phone and I used the public phone...eeewww, gross!!!! I ended being away from the house for 12 hours for the day. UUUGGGGHHH!!!! I felt very fulfilled but VERY tired.
Brown Paper Tickets is an awesome company to work for. If I'm gonna have to work, I might as well have fun doing it and do it for a great company. These guys are so relaxed and so very cool. Apparently you can surf the internet, blog(which I am doing now) and KNIT if it is slow enough.
BTW, during my week of training, I have finished enough of a pair of after-thought socks that I can feel ok about starting another project. YAY!!!!!
Since it is the beginning of November, it is NaBloPoMo!!!! A blog a day for the month of November...at least i can blog at work. Don't expect long posts like this...I don't think I have that in me.

Wind Wind Wind
Its a very windy day here in Renton and the lights keep flickering. I'm going out on a date with my sis. The author of Post Secret Blog and book will be at Elliott Bay Book Company tonight. If you haven't read the blog, you should...its very interesting.
YAY!!! for bonding time with my sister. For some reason, we are not very close. I understand that we are a few years apart (6 years) and growing up we had different circles of friends (we still do) but we are still sisters. We grew up together in the same household, she loves my kids, and I know she loves me. Up until a few months ago it was almost a battle to get her to give me a hug. Is it because I have children and a family? Or is it because I am NOT a college graduate with a degree in whatever and in a career that make me lots of money with benefits? Or is it because she just doesn't like me? And why can't I just let our relationship be whatever it is and stop dwelling on how it is not?
On another note, I made my first dollar last night at knitting as a self-employed Fiber Artist. Granted it was a couple friends that bought my hand-processed, hand-dyed, drum carded batts for spinning, but hey, making a dollar using your own creativity is quite AWESOME!!! Now if I can only figure out how to post something onto my Etsy shop and how to price it, etc....everything would be dandy.

Need, Want or Desire?
So, in during my research into sock machine, I have found out that some VERY smart and talented person has taken the time to re-make these wonderful antique machines. Guess what is on my wish list? New Zealand Auto Knitter which is $1710 post paid to my door plus $200 to have custom painted. And if you don't know yet...my favorite color is RED.
HMMMM....maybe I should add a donation button to my blog and then inform all my friends and family that they should visit it...how cheesy would that be? Luckily, I have no problem with being cheesy.

I love you Mommy Dearest!!!
I have been outed. My family and I went to a July 4th BBQ at a friends house. The neighbor every year have a HUGE fireworks display. I can't even remember what my daughter was asking me for but the timing was just right for when I respond with "How do you ask?" I want my children to be polite and have good manners....please....thank you....is that too much to ask for? What does my daughter respond with? "Please mommy dearest?" Like I said the timing was just right...right between the fireworks and EVERYONE around me heard her. Granted, I don't beat my kids with wire hangers...I just won't respond without the right response. It was so funny. Sometimes I think my kids are seals and I need to train them. Sometimes, I just don't realize what sticks.

Awesome Cookbook
Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon has become my newest favorite cookbook. Ever since my husband, the love of my life, was diagnosed with diabetes, I have been on a quest to change our eating habits. This book is so informative that it makes my head spin. I guess I will just have to start with Chapter 1 and make my way through it. This is one of those many, many books that I have added to my collection that will stay with me forever. I honestly do have alot of books in so many topics that I really need to start weeding out the non-needed or used ones.

Inside Out Socks...DONE!!!!
I finally finished my first installment of the 2007 Rockin' Sock club!!!! Just in time, too, since my third installment just arrived today. I'm only a little bit behind. Of course, I didn't do a swatch and they ended up being too big for me but perfect for my hubby. Here he is modeling them for me.
Why do they still need to look like penis socks? From the bottom of the foot, it doesn't just look like A penis...its looks like a double sided one.
Luckily he loves them and now I have found my niche with him. He's a big boy that conducts alot of heat so sweaters were out of the question. But custom made socks...a big hit. It took me about 5 weeks to make them but that is with working on 4 other projects and playing my virtual life of WoW. I put the pedal to the metal this last 1 and a half week period and got them done. What a feeling of accomplishment finishing a project gives you!!! Its been a while since I've done that. I have replaced its spot in my bag for a child pair of socks for my niece that I started a LONG time ago. Why is it that I can think of at least 2 other projects to cast on for?
Well, I'm of to finish spinning some yarn for Alachia who just started knitting and finished her real life quest I gave her. Hopefully , that will be done this weekend and can be sent off with some goodies next week.

Komucha Mad Scientist!!!!!
I have recently become a Kombucha Mad Scientist.
Taken from the Kombucha Wiki:
Kombucha is the Western name for sweetened tea or tisane that has been fermented by a macroscopic solid mass of microorganisms called a "kombucha colony," usually consisting principally of Bacterium xylinum and yeast cultures. It has gained much popular support within many communities, mentioned by talk show hosts, and celebrities. The increase in popularity can be seen with many commercial brands coming onto the retail market and thousands of web pages about this fermented beverage.
Apparently, Google serves shot glasses of made-from-scratch Kombucha in their Cafe.
From the outside, its sounds and looks somewhat gross BUT its said to be good for you and gives you a sense of well being...still waiting for the well being part...I'm still grumpy in the morning. I think my home brew tastes WAY better that store bought.
Enjoy some videos and if you think you want a kombucha baby scoby (symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast) let me know, i might have extra.
The mad science part of it is you can experiment with different teas, sugars, and honeys. You can brew till its tangy/vinegary or till its still a bit sweet. My current experiment is trying to get it to ferment a 2nd time and get it carbonated like sparkling cider.

Penis Sock......huh? :-|
Here's a pic of my Rockin' Sock Club socks, why does it have to look like a penis? It stretches nicely and fits my hubby. I'm off to a slow start since I have received my second package and have just started the first one. Luckily, I am knitting both at the same time so my darling hubby can have a whole pair when I am done. I tried knitting socks on our LONG drive from Seattle to Vegas but trying to get through a whole pair in the car is hard when the mentality is to just go to sleep during a long drive. And, of course, you can't REALLY knit while you drive since that would be the only time I would be awake.
Thank you Alachia for you're awesome podcast to keep me awake and laughing during my drive. <<I don't know is at the blacksmith!!!>> And, Oh My God, I had to get a Webkinz right away. YAY froggie!!!! This post is for you...maybe now you can learn how to purl.
