Awesome Cookbook

Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon has become my newest favorite cookbook. Ever since my husband, the love of my life, was diagnosed with diabetes, I have been on a quest to change our eating habits. This book is so informative that it makes my head spin. I guess I will just have to start with Chapter 1 and make my way through it. This is one of those many, many books that I have added to my collection that will stay with me forever. I honestly do have alot of books in so many topics that I really need to start weeding out the non-needed or used ones.

Inside Out Socks...DONE!!!!

I finally finished my first installment of the 2007 Rockin' Sock club!!!! Just in time, too, since my third installment just arrived today. I'm only a little bit behind. Of course, I didn't do a swatch and they ended up being too big for me but perfect for my hubby. Here he is modeling them for me.

Why do they still need to look like penis socks? From the bottom of the foot, it doesn't just look like A penis...its looks like a double sided one.

Luckily he loves them and now I have found my niche with him. He's a big boy that conducts alot of heat so sweaters were out of the question. But custom made socks...a big hit. It took me about 5 weeks to make them but that is with working on 4 other projects and playing my virtual life of WoW. I put the pedal to the metal this last 1 and a half week period and got them done. What a feeling of accomplishment finishing a project gives you!!! Its been a while since I've done that. I have replaced its spot in my bag for a child pair of socks for my niece that I started a LONG time ago. Why is it that I can think of at least 2 other projects to cast on for?

Well, I'm of to finish spinning some yarn for Alachia who just started knitting and finished her real life quest I gave her. Hopefully , that will be done this weekend and can be sent off with some goodies next week.

What is this world coming too?

Its been a while since I watched Current TV...I think i'm going to have to start watching it again.

Komucha Mad Scientist!!!!!

I have recently become a Kombucha Mad Scientist.

Taken from the Kombucha Wiki:
Kombucha is the Western name for sweetened tea or tisane that has been fermented by a macroscopic solid mass of microorganisms called a "kombucha colony," usually consisting principally of Bacterium xylinum and yeast cultures. It has gained much popular support within many communities, mentioned by talk show hosts, and celebrities. The increase in popularity can be seen with many commercial brands coming onto the retail market and thousands of web pages about this fermented beverage.

Apparently, Google serves shot glasses of made-from-scratch Kombucha in their Cafe.

From the outside, its sounds and looks somewhat gross BUT its said to be good for you and gives you a sense of well being...still waiting for the well being part...I'm still grumpy in the morning. I think my home brew tastes WAY better that store bought.

Enjoy some videos and if you think you want a kombucha baby scoby (symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast) let me know, i might have extra.

The mad science part of it is you can experiment with different teas, sugars, and honeys. You can brew till its tangy/vinegary or till its still a bit sweet. My current experiment is trying to get it to ferment a 2nd time and get it carbonated like sparkling cider.
